Today it is difficult to find someone that does not own and is not using a laptop. Laptops have
become as commonplace as desktops. With so many choices and the economical price range, there are many good
selections available out there. If you are considering purchasing a laptop, you will want to keep some factors in
mind when deciding which laptop is for you.
Weight – Weight is a very important consideration
to many people. There are many varying weights in today’s laptops - some weigh as little as two pounds whereas
others can weight over 5 pounds. When deciding whether a laptop weight is important to you, take a look at how you
will be using the laptop. Will you be taking it everywhere or leaving it on your desk at a docking station? This
can be a big difference in whether a laptop weight matters to you.
Screen Size – Screen size is also very important
when deciding which laptop is good for you. The most common screen size in laptops today is approximately 15
inches. However, there are laptops with smaller 9 and 10 inch screens and some with upwards of 17 inch screens or
even more. If you are used to working all day on a large screen, it may be difficult to adjust to a small 10 inch
screen. However, if you only work on your laptop occasionally, a small screen may not really matter. You will need
to determine how much you intend to use it and whether a larger screen is necessary for your job and your
comfort.
Battery Life – Battery life can be a critical
consideration, especially if you plan to use your laptop frequently and while away from your home or office. There
is nothing worse than a battery running out just when you really need it. Battery life can be anywhere from an hour
to several hours. Again, determine your plans for the laptop and then purchase a laptop that will meet your needs.
There are many laptops available today that have extended battery life. You can also consider a backup battery or
extra battery if you plan to be away from a power source for extended amounts of time.
Built-In Accessories – Built in accessories are
becoming increasingly common. You will want to determine which accessories you need to do your job and which would
be nice to have. You may be surprised to find that many accessories are more economical to purchase built-in to a
laptop. For instance, most laptops have a DVD player built-in as this has become commonplace for laptops. If you
require a webcam, many laptops come with them built-in today as well. You may also want to consider whether a
built-in SD card reader, fingerprint reader, extra USB ports, or integrated modems are important to your laptop
usage.
Deciding the laptop that is best for your home or business needs can be a fun process if you
make a few decisions before you start your shopping. Once you have determined what you need in a laptop and your
budget, you will find you have many options available and you will soon be on your way home with a stylish and new
laptop.
